We are so excited to introduce Tamina Pollack-Paris as this week’s #FEMMEFEATUREFRIDAY. We have known Tamina for years now, and we couldn’t be more proud and inspired by our Canadian sister! This woman is a dancer, choreographer, actress, and badass entrepreneur, and she is always looking for ways to evolve.
Not only is Tamina one of the top bookers in Canada, but she has also found tremendous success in Los Angeles. This bicoastal performer has worked on so many incredible shows and movies such as Glee, Disney’s Camp Rock, Frenemies, Turn the Beat Around, Hellcats, and High School Musical 2. You may also know her as “Tiffany” in The Next Step. She has shared the stage with top artists such as Justin Bieber, Ke$ha, Big Sean, Rye Rye, and she has toured the world with Lady Gaga, too. On top of that, Tamina is the creator and director of The Girls Club (thegirlsclub.ca), a company that promotes strength and unity among females. She provides the tools to help mold dancers into becoming top performers in the industry, and she mentors young women to be positive leaders.
We absolutely love Tamina, and we are so happy we get to share this interview with all our YGTGirls! Tamina is the perfect example of what hard work, dedication, and passion will attract into your life. If a door doesn’t open, this girl creates a new one for herself. She’s never afraid to be herself, and she’s effectively used her unique talents and gifts to give back to the world. We admire her fiery energy, her dedication to spirituality, and her perseverance towards manifesting all of her desires. Enjoy getting to know the amazing Tamina!
What inspired you to start The Girls Club?
THE GIRLS CLUB is a collective of talented & versatile entertainers. As a unit, we thrive on creating remarkable experiences through immersive performance arts at various events. Members receive industry level dance and business training in our ‘Academy’, and are hand picked to represent elegance, beauty & freedom.
After having the opportunity to travel and work within various sectors of the industry, I wanted to find a way to give back to the community by mentoring the next generation of female performers. We identify as leaders who believe in the beauty and strength of femininity, and the importance of self love and unity. I was fortunate enough to have wonderful mentors to look up to in my formative years, so I really believe in the importance of having solid examples not to emulate, but to seek valuable insight so that you may have the tools to build your own career path.
Were there struggles in starting your business? What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?
When starting a business, the first struggle you usually encounter is finding your own niche; the median point between your passion and the needs of society. I always say do what you're most passionate about because trends come and go, but any venture coming from the heart is an infinite resource for the journey ahead. For me, it took a huge personal transformation to figure out exactly how I could contribute to society. Through this transformation, I realized that the worlds of dance and spirituality didn't have to exist exclusively. This is how my newest venture, Intuitive Feels was born.
Intuitive feels is mindful movement for the mind, body and soul. It’s a place for movers to heal, release and expand awareness through community and unity. I've always had a divine connection to music that has moved and healed me in ways that I didn't think was possible. I’m so excited to mentor others on their own personal journeys of embodying musical energy, expressing genuine emotion, and releasing tension in their bodies.
After answering my calling to connect my passion for dance and spirituality, I feel so much happier and fulfilled. I no longer feel forced to work on projects, because I remain open to the universe and what it has planned for me. Essentially I'm no longer working in overdrive, and am taking a second to enjoy the beauties in life while contributing positively to the community.
What does female empowerment mean to you?
BUILDING A COMMUNITY. Support. Network. Female empowerment is a strong network of driven females who are passionate about a common cause, and through unity and support, uplift one another to progress as a unit while simultaneously pursuing their own individual ventures.
Is there an issue in this day and age that you are most passionate about? What is it and why?
I feel strongly about the value of working hard before expecting a return. I think the age of instant gratification is affecting society on so many levels; work, health, food & even beauty. We are of the mindset that FASTER and EASIER is better. Truly there is much to be said about anything that is developed and refined over time, and imperfections are the beginnings of individuality. It’s time we accept ourselves for all of who we are, and be grateful for the blood sweat and tears we get to put towards a cause we actually care about. Not everyone has this luxury.
What is your definition of a YGTGirl?
Carving your own path, while inspiring and helping others along the way!
