What is your favorite thing about being a woman? Why is being a woman so special?
My favorite thing about being a woman is how multifaceted and powerful we are. Having recently given birth to my daughter, Maya Luna, I was reminded of the fact of how powerful women are/ I am. Often as a society women are underestimated as “not strong enough”, “too emotional”, “can’t hold their own in a boardroom”, but the strength we possess physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually to give birth, raise a family, maintain a household, hold a career, be business women or be anything we want to be has been proven time and time again just how powerful we are. Even as a “silent” power (not often celebrated) we are powerful beyond measure! The birth of my daughter has reminded me of just that.
When was a time you found yourself in a dark, negative place? How did you pull yourself out of it? What lessons did you learn from your experience?
A time I found myself in a dark, negative place was when I was in a toxic relationship about 10 years ago. This guy was so bad for me in many ways and I gave up myself unknowingly. The relationship stripped me of confidence, self-worth, mental & physical health (I gained a lot of weight and was eating out of stress and emotional turmoil), my intuition (he was dishonest and deceitful and I always went against my greater knowing), friendships and jeopardized relationships with my own family members and at times it was physically but mostly emotionally abusive. I started to hate myself and not know who I was - I kept giving up my light to be loved by someone else who at the end of the day didn’t deserve to love me.
The way I pulled myself out of it was through Spirit and my intuition. We had broken up and a couple days after I had moved back home I had a bad feeling in my stomach, something told me to go back to our apartment - so I did and found him on the couch with another woman (this was after he said there was no one else in the picture when we broke up). I was devastated as everything became clear that I have been played all these years. I had hit rock bottom but it was a blessing in disguise. From this place the only place to go from here was up. I believe it was my intuition and Spirit that made me see the truth and this started my awakened spiritual path. I started meditating, journaling, being around truly loving and healthy people. I discovered who I truly was and was healing on a soul level.
My greatest lesson I learned from this was that when you deny your light, your truth, and your worth, suffering will follow. But when you stand in your light, know you are valuable, know your worth and not sacrifice yourself for anyone else just to be loved and accepted by their standards then you feel the light and power within you grow and you feel yourself living your authentic life and being your authentic self. I also believe Universe/God/Source and your intuition always has a way of calling you back to your true self - because that is the life we are meant to live out.
Did you ever doubt your decision of choosing an untraditional career? Tell us about your journey in discovering your passion for spiritual life coaching.
Surprisingly I have never doubted my choice as a spiritual life coach, even in challenging times of running my business I always have a deep inner knowing that this is where I am meant to be and do in this lifetime.
I discovered my calling as a Spiritual Life Coach when I was on another path that “expired” and was no longer meant for me – as a professional actor and dancer. I had a fun time doing that but I had hit a point where in the pit of my stomach I felt anxious, depressed and dread so I knew this wasn’t meant for me anymore. I didn’t want my life/career to be consumed feeling like that so I knew I had to accept another path of work for myself. So, I dove into my spirituality as I knew my spirit would lead me to the highest and best. What that means is I dedicated time to my personal and spiritual development to discover my gifts, talents & purpose. I worked with different teachers, coaches, read books, journaled and meditated. My mantra at that time was “Spirit lead the way and I will follow” and everyday whatever intuitive feel or message I received I followed and that lead to Spiritual Life Coaching… I’ve never looked back since.
How do you keep your energy and spirits high? What are some of your daily self-care practices?
I have my own daily practice (which of course is not every single day, especially with having a newborn at the moment) but I do some variation of it every day - I journal, meditate, read inspirational text, watch/listen to high vibrating videos such as Abraham Hicks, pray, make gratitude lists, go out in nature... whenever I feel a dip in my emotions or energy I do something whether it’s declaring my emotions or thoughts and then consciously choose to change it by challenging the thought by talking it out loud or journaling about it or changing my environment or physicality until I feel a shift to higher vibrations.
What’s your definition of a YGTGirl?
My definition of a YGTGirl is a girl that believes she has the power within her to achieve whatever goals and desires she wants. Remember, nothing is off limits or unachievable. The only limit is the limits we place in our mind. If you can think it, you can achieve it. You have the resources within you and all around you to make that happen!
