We are honoured to introduce a very special young lady to you today! This week’s #FEMMEFEATUREFRIDAY is the beautiful and talented Vic Baldesarra! Dance has played a major role in Vic’s life since she was a little girl and it continues to allow her to develop a strong sense of self-awareness and self-acceptance. Vic loves that dance can take her to that place of complete and utter freedom and she feels that it is in that space where she can truly express who she is. As an artist she has learned not to sweat the obstacles or be discouraged by failure in the creative journey. This positive girl encourages us to never give up on our goals and reminds us to simply recognize that challenges are a necessary part of growth. Vic is a radiant girl who acknowledges every aspect of the woman she is becoming and personifies her beauty both inside and out.

At such a young age, Vic has an abundance of accomplishments under her belt. There is no stopping this girl! You may have caught this triple threat, dancing, singing and acting on your television screen on more than one occasion. She has starred as the character Michelle on the Family Channel’s hit TV series The Next Step in Seasons 1 through 6 and she has also appeared in Lost & Found Music Studios and Private Eyes on Global TV. Vic has had the incredible experience of headlining The Next Step during its live Canadian and International tours in Australia, New Zealand, United Kingdom and Europe. Vic is also very passionate about being a positive influence and role model. She continues to share her brand and inspire girls everywhere to be driven and confident as they pursue their dreams.

Vic is fiery and we love how determined she is to make her mark in the world. Her hard work and persistence represent the success one can achieve with a strong work ethic and clear vision. What we admire most about Vic is how supportive she is of all the women around her. In today’s world, being a woman and loving yourself unconditionally is a courageous act. She believes that where there is strength there is power and our community can collectively find its strength by empowering one another. We just love to see young women like Vic accomplish all of their dreams with so much charisma and motivation. Thank you Vic for showing us how to fearlessly embrace our gifts and share them openly with the world. Reach for the stars ladies!

You are such a stunning mover! What is something you love about dance? How has dance helped in your development as a woman?

First off, thank you. Honestly, dance became such a huge part of my life at such a young age; I couldn’t even imagine my life without it. Something I love about dance is the ability to create without limits. No one can limit my creativity when it comes to dancing, whether it is in improv or choreography, and I have the ability to be myself completely.

Dancing has really shaped my womanhood in so many ways. I feel like dancing has given me the ability to feel comfortable in my own body and with my sexuality. It has made me more open and accepting of the image I create for myself as a young woman.

How do you stay focused on your goals and dreams, even in the times when you feel defeated or down?

I mean, we all know every artist will fail before succeeding, as I have many times and will go through ups and downs throughout my whole career…but in those moments of defeat, it’s not hard to remember why I became an artist in the first place. I’ve known since I was probably 13 years old that acting and dancing were my callings in life, and that I was never going to give up the idea of fulfilling my dreams.

What does female empowerment mean to you and why is it important for women to stand up for each other?

I believe that female empowerment means strength, courage and everything more. Women are truly the most beautiful beings on earth, and I will stand by this idea forever. I think women in today’s century have a difficult time accepting and loving themselves, and this is why it is important for women to stand up for each other. We have the ability to uplift and enlighten one another.

If you could travel back in time and give advice to your 10-year-old self, what would you say to her?

Ahhhhh, good question. I would probably tell my 10-year-old self to RELAX. I remember being so particular and anxiety-filled about every little detail in my life that I don’t think I realized how easy things could be.

What's your definition of a YGTGirl?

A YGTGirl is a woman or a girl who shows strength in every aspect of her life. It is someone who is committed to empowering other females to succeed while empowering herself.
