We are so excited to have the beautiful Jamie Lee Ruiz as our #FEMMEFEATUREFRIDAY this week! This girl knows all about overcoming obstacles and looking fear straight in the face. We admire her commitment to understanding who she is and her determination to evolve into the best person she can be. Jamie acknowledges the bigger picture and that’s what makes her so inspiring. She embraces her story by finding strength in her tribulations and purpose through her experiences. This amazing girl is a clear reminder that we have the ability to step into our own light by loving every aspect of who we are.
There is no denying this girl’s captivating stage presence. Jamie’s sought after talent has led her to work with some of the BEST in the biz! She has danced for Maluma, J Balvin, Flo-Rida, Christina Aguilera, Becky G, JLo, and The Pussycat Dolls. Most notably, this amazing girl danced for Pitbull on his World Tour and during his Residency at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas. You might also remember seeing this girl in the movie “Burlesque” alongside Christina Aguilera. Jamie’s impressive resume doesn’t end there either! She’s danced on X Factor, The Voice, American Idol, VMA’s, AMA’s, Billboard’s, Latin Billboards, Latin Grammy’s, Grammy’s and the I Heart Music Awards. Jamie is a role model and we love how she encourages women to find unity in their imperfections or insecurities. The topics that make us uncomfortable, the situations that leave us feeling down… those are the conversations we need to have in order to learn and move forward! What makes this lovely girl so unstoppable is how she seeks the truth. Our hope at YGTG is that all girls can live without apology and make fearless decisions as Jamie has learned to do. She believes that courage and confidence are a result of pushing through the hard stuff! Thank you Jamie for reminding us not to compromise on what we want in life!

Congratulations on your exciting new adventure with your blog! Tell us more about it and why you’re passionate about sharing your stories and experiences with others.
Thank you! For years I’ve always had a desire to start a blog. I didn’t have the details as to what I wanted to blog about or even a reason for why I wanted to blog, I just always knew it was something I wanted to do. Every time I would think about the details, fear would intervene and I would immediately talk myself out of it. If you read my first blog post, you’ll learn that “fear” was the title of my life story for a very long time. I was fully operating from a place of fear in every aspect of my life. Once I decided to rewrite my story and title it “fearless”, that’s when things really started to turn around for me. The details I couldn’t figure out were suddenly presenting themselves to me. I’ve overcome so much in my life, emotionally, spiritually and mentally, and I feel that I can now help others do the same. I always knew I wanted to be a light, I just wasn’t sure how. Now, in perfect timing, I’ve spent years healing myself, I’ve overcome fear, the details are clear, I’ve started a blog and have the life experience to share my story and hopefully be the light I always imagined myself to be.
What were some obstacles you came across as you were launching a project of your own? How did you overcome them?
Well the biggest obstacle was obviously the fear. It took me 8 years to overcome that, and even when I decided to face my fears and actually do it, I was still terrified! Besides that, starting a blog is not as easy as they make it out to be. I read tons of articles titled “Starting a blog in 5 easy steps”, or “Starting a blog in 15 minutes”. Lies! It is not easy and it does not take 15 minutes! I basically was learning and figuring it out all on my own from the ground up. There are so many steps and details to figure out such as buying a domain, choosing a host, creating and designing the site…it all sounded like a foreign language to me at the time. Luckily two of my closest friends have a business that specializes in web design and they were extremely helpful in guiding me through the process (jnfcreatives.com). At the end of the day, no matter what obstacles come your way, if you have a desire to do something, you can and will figure it out!
Why do you think it’s important for women to share their voices and gifts with the world?
I think it is extremely important for women to share their voices and gifts with the world. We have them for a reason. My favorite author, Gabrielle Bernstein, said “your wounds are your wisdom”, and that really stuck with me. Life isn’t always easy but I strongly believe that everything happens for a reason. Figure out what that reason is and use it to help others. My life has played out in such a perfect way to teach ME things and transform ME in ways that only I will experience. My wounds are now my wisdom and I am choosing to share it because someone out there will resonate with my story. Every single person’s story is so unique and different and if you don’t share it, you are missing out on an opportunity to help someone who needs to hear YOUR message specifically. You never know who needs to hear what you have to say!
Who inspires you most and why?
My girlfriends inspire me! I have such a strong, beautiful and talented group of friends. It is so inspiring and admirable to watch them accomplish goals, live their dreams and create beauty every single day. Each of us is so different yet we all hustle in our own way, cheer each other on and support each other’s projects every chance we get. It is really inspiring to have that kind of love and support.
What’s your definition of a YGTGirl?
My definition on a YGTGirl is a girl who is living her truth, whatever that may be. A girl who is overcoming battles everyday that she may not speak about. A girl who decides to be fearless in a world that is surrounded by so much fear. A girl who is constantly working on being the best version of herself every single day!
